Why Choose Ally

What to Expect

Parent and caregiver involvement is an important part of the therapeutic process, helping ensure children feel supported both inside and outside of sessions. Ally’s process with families includes:

1:  Initial Caregiver Consultation (50–80 Minutes)

The process begins with an adult-only consultation where parents or caregivers can openly discuss concerns without the child present. The Intake & Consent Form must be completed prior to this session, so we can use our time effectively to:

  • understanding the child’s unique emotional, behavioural, and developmental needs
  • exploring family dynamics and current stressors
  • identifying therapy goals
  • discussing parenting strategies and supports
  • creating a collaborative treatment plan

2:  Child Art Therapy Sessions (First 4–6 Sessions)

Early sessions focus on building safety, trust, and therapeutic connection. Through art-making, play, and creative exploration, Ally helps children become comfortable within the therapeutic space and process while gently beginning to explore emotions, experiences, and coping tools.

Sessions are tailored to each child’s personality, developmental stage, and comfort level. We proceed at their pace, ensuring they feel empowered in their own treatment and progress.

3: Ongoing Caregiver Consultations (15, 25, or 50 Minutes)

Throughout therapy, caregiver consultations provide space to discuss:

  • progress and updates
  • themes observed in sessions
  • emotional or behavioural patterns
  • parenting strategies and home supports
  • recommendations and next steps in treatment

These collaborative conversations help bridge the work happening in therapy with the child’s everyday environment, creating more consistent and lasting support.
