Alex is a Registered Social Worker with a Master of Social Work degree from Wilfrid Laurier University, bringing extensive experience from a wide range of clinical and community settings. His work spans elementary schools, group homes, hospitals, crisis teams, and mental health support for first responders, with a particular focus on men’s mental health and the unique challenges faced by farmers and rural communities.
Having served directly with Crisis Response Teams in emergency departments across Huron and Perth Counties, and through his collaboration with the OPP and Stratford Police Service, Alex has developed a deep understanding of chronic stress, trauma, and the emotional toll experienced by people in high-pressure helping professions, including first responders and those working in agriculture.
Born and raised in rural Perth County, Alex’s own lived experience with mental health is what first drew him to the field. His approach is rooted in empathy, curiosity, and authenticity, creating a space where clients, especially men, farmers, and first responders, feel heard, supported, and understood.
Alex works with teens (16+) and adults experiencing addiction, anxiety, depression, relational conflict, anger, trauma, and the cumulative stress that comes from service-oriented and agriculture-based careers. He is especially passionate about men’s mental health, farmers’ mental health, emotional regulation in youth, and supporting first responders.
Alex’s work blends compassion with evidence-based practice to support long-term mental health wellness. His areas of focus include:

Alex offers EMDR Therapy as part of his approach to supporting clients who may feel weighed down by difficult or painful experiences. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy that helps the brain process distressing memories so they no longer feel as overwhelming.
During EMDR sessions, clients briefly recall specific memories while engaging in guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation. This process helps reduce the emotional intensity of the memory and allows the brain to reprocess it in a healthier way.
EMDR is commonly used for trauma, but it can also support people experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, or other emotional challenges. The goal is to help clients move forward without feeling stuck in the past.
Alex integrates EMDR alongside other therapeutic approaches to support clients in building resilience and improving day-to-day well-being.
Alex is trained in EMDR as part of his therapeutic work supporting trauma and emotional regulation.
